About
This page discusses the Gulf Coast Child and Family Health Study (G-CAFH), which began in 2006 as a longitudinal investigation into post-disaster recovery in the Mississippi and Louisiana Gulf Coast regions after Hurricane Katrina. It involved 1,079 households surveyed annually on physical and mental health, social, and economic recovery indicators. Two significant publications emerged at the five-year mark post-Katrina: a white paper on Katrina's impact on vulnerable children and an academic paper on children's emotional well-being post-disaster. Despite being inactive now, the study aimed to assess infrastructure, community redevelopment, economic recovery, social re-engagement, and personal resilience post-Katrina through multiple interview waves.
