About
Participants in this simulation will learn to identify signs of shock in children, evaluate critically ill patients, interpret symptoms of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), and create management plans for DKA cases. They will also understand the risks of aggressive fluid administration, manage hypokalemia and hyperglycemia, take histories from caregivers, communicate effectively with families, and demonstrate teamwork. Critical actions include assigning team roles, obtaining patient history, monitoring the patient's condition, establishing vascular access, conducting blood tests, diagnosing DKA, initiating treatment, and communicating with consultants and families. The simulation emphasizes practical application of skills in a medical emergency setting.
