About
This simulation aims to equip participants with skills to identify and manage cardiac tamponade, evaluate critically ill patients, develop a broad differential diagnosis for pediatric cases, and implement initial medical management strategies for shock and respiratory distress. Participants will learn to formulate diagnostic plans, use point-of-care ultrasound, interpret sonographic findings, and perform emergent procedures like pericardiocentesis. Critical actions include assigning team roles, obtaining patient history, conducting primary assessments, monitoring vital signs, administering oxygen and IV fluids, ordering diagnostic tests, initiating antibiotics, and performing ultrasound-guided procedures. The simulation also emphasizes effective communication, teamwork, and involving caregivers in diagnosis and management decisions.
