About
This article describes the development and testing of a tool called the Computerized Adaptive Screen for Suicidal Youth (CASSY). CASSY is designed to predict suicide attempts in teenagers within three months. It was tested on over 4,800 adolescents in emergency departments across the U.S. The results showed that CASSY accurately identified those at risk with high sensitivity and specificity. This tool could help identify teens who need mental health support, especially since many at-risk youths are not currently receiving help. The study highlights the importance of effective screening to prevent youth suicides.
