About
This video describes how California coordinates with the federal government for patient movement during emergencies. When state resources are insufficient, California requests federal help using specific forms. The National EMS Contract provides ambulances and medical support quickly. The National Disaster Medical System helps move patients to safe areas for treatment. Military support can also be requested if needed. Patients are tracked through a system called JPATS as they move from impacted areas to care facilities in safer locations, and eventually back home once treated. The process follows a structured communication path from local to federal levels. This video is number 4 out of 5 in an educational series.
