    This article describes how three pediatric emergency departments in the western U.S. handled challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. It highlights issues like low patient numbers at first, then sudden increases with Delta and Omicron variants, along with supply chain problems and staff shortages. The departments had to rethink their usual ways of working and come up with new strategies to manage these surges. The study shares what they learned to help others prepare for future pandemics in pediatric care settings.
