About
This report describes a measles outbreak in Central Ohio from October to December 2022. It started with two unvaccinated children and led to 85 confirmed cases, mostly in Franklin County. Many patients were young and had not received the MMR vaccine. The outbreak caused complications like ear infections, diarrhea, and pneumonia, with some requiring hospitalization. Health officials worked to control the spread by quarantining contacts and providing vaccines or immune globulin as post-exposure treatment. The event highlights the importance of timely vaccination to prevent such outbreaks in undervaccinated communities.
