About
This article examines multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) during three COVID-19 waves in Israel: Alpha, Delta, and Omicron. It describes how the severity of MIS-C decreased over time, with fewer ICU admissions and better cardiac outcomes during the Omicron wave. The study also found that MIS-C incidence was lower during the Omicron wave compared to Alpha and Delta. Possible reasons include changes in the virus variant, prior infections or vaccinations, and improved treatments. Data were collected from 12 hospitals covering most pediatric ICU admissions in Israel over specific periods for each wave.
