This document describes efforts to improve pediatric disaster care in Michigan and Ohio. It highlights differences in EMS protocols, training, and equipment between the two states. The paper suggests that a common operating picture could help align prehospital pediatric care across states. It also addresses legal issues like licensing and liability during disasters. Recommendations include better coordination among neighboring states' procedures and protocols to enhance response to major pediatric emergencies. The work was supported by a grant from the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR).
