This article focuses on medication dosing safety for children in emergency medical services (EMS). It describes the challenges of weight-based dosing and varying medication concentrations, which can lead to errors. The authors reviewed 70 articles to identify major safety threats and best practices. They developed 11 recommendations to improve medication delivery safety in EMS settings. These findings are summarized in a position statement by the National Association of EMS Physicians®. The goal is to reduce harm from incorrect dosing through better practices and standardization of medication formularies.
