About
This article describes the use of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) in pediatric critical care. HFNC helps children with breathing problems by delivering humidified air and oxygen. The study looked at patients in a children's hospital from 2011 to 2013, finding that HFNC was used in 27% of ICU admissions. Common reasons for its use included asthma and bronchiolitis. It was also used after removing breathing tubes, especially for those with heart conditions. The study suggests creating guidelines to improve how HFNC is started, increased, or decreased during treatment.
